The Lancashire Heeler Club Judges List & Criteria

 

The Lancashire Heeler Club maintains a list of approved persons qualified to judge Lancashire Heelers at various levels.

The Lancashire Heeler Club welcomes applications from experienced judges or new applicants wishing to be considered for inclusion on one of the Judging Lists.  Acceptance onto any list is at the discretion of The Lancashire Heeler Club’s Judges Sub-Committee.

Criteria for Inclusion on The Lancashire Heeler Club Judges List:
 

A1 List
This list includes judges who have been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in Lancashire Heelers and have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club.

 

A2 List
This list includes judges who have met the requirements of the Kennel Club to award CCs in Lancashire Heelers but have not yet done so, and who have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club.

 

A3 List (Breed Specialists)
This list includes experienced judges who would have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club to award CCs but have not yet been approved by the Kennel Club to do so.

To be considered for inclusion on this list you should:

  • Have been involved with or owned a Lancashire Heeler for a minimum of 10 years;

  • have a minimum of 7 years' judging experience in the breed and have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club;

  • have judged the breed at Limit, Open or Championship Shows without CC’s with a minimum total of 40 dogs actually present and judged, with an adequate geographical spread;

  • have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the relevant examination on Kennel Club Regulations and Judging Procedures;

  • have attended a seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer on Conformation and Movement and passed the assessment;

  • have attended a Points of the Dog seminar given by a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer and passed the assessment;

  • have attended at least one breed-specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable;

  • have bred and/or owned a minimum of 3 dogs when they obtained their first entry in the Kennel Club Stud Book; and

  • have stewarded at 12 shows.

 

A3 List (Non-Breed Specialists)

  • have a minimum of 7 years' judging experience in any one breed (to include 5 years in this breed) and have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club;

  • have judged the breed at Limit, Open or Championship Shows without CC’s with a minimum total of 40 dogs actually present and judged, with an adequate geographical spread;

  • have awarded CC’s in at least one other breed;

  • have attended at least one breed-specific seminar run in accordance with the relevant Kennel Club Code of Best Practice and passed an examination and/or assessment where applicable.

 

B List (Breed Specialists)
This list includes judges who have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club to judge Lancashire Heelers at Open Shows or at Championship Shows with no CCs for the breed.

To be considered for inclusion you should:

  • have been involved with or owned a Lancashire Heeler for a minimum of 5 years and have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club;

  • have judged the breed on at least two occasions with a minimum total of 10 dogs actually present and judged;

  • have preferably attended a Lancashire Heeler Breed Seminar, or in exceptional circumstances to have attended a show where Lancashire Heelers were judged and spent time discussing the Breed Standard and the judging with an experienced breed Judge, details of show and Judge to be recorded;

  • have preferably undertaken and passed, where relevant, the Kennel Club Seminars on Requirements of a Dog Show Judge, Conformation and Movement, Points of the Dog and Stewarding.

 

B List (Non-Breed Specialists):

  • have a minimum 5 years’ judging experience and have the support of The Lancashire Heeler Club;

  • have judged the breed on at least two occasions with a minimum total of 10 dogs actually present and judged;

  • have preferably attended a Lancashire Heeler Breed Seminar, or in exceptional circumstances to have attended a show where Lancashire Heelers were judged and spent time discussing the Breed Standard and the judging with an experienced breed Judge, details of show and Judge to be recorded;

  • have preferably undertaken and passed, where relevant, the Kennel Club Seminars on Requirements of a Dog Show Judge, Conformation and Movement, Points of the Dog and Stewarding.

 

C List
This list includes aspirant judges looking for their first appointment, and those without sufficient judging experience to qualify for the B list.  To be considered, you should have shown an interest in the breed and have had a minimum of two years' experience of owning and exhibiting in this breed, or for non-specialists, a minimum of three years' experience of owning and exhibiting in any breed.

 

Please note that all Judges must meet the criteria for JEP Level 1 to be able to judge at any show.

 

For Judges who wish to use the JEP route, please check the KC requirements for the various levels and note that the minimum number of dogs required for Level 3 is 20
